SAFE WATER PROGRAM

Under this program, TMOF tries to provide safe and clean water to the community by provision and installation of bio-sand water filter, provision of life straws and sinking of deep water wells.

Having realized the prevalence rate of Malaria and Typhoid to be as high as 40% in two of the schools the children we are supporting are attending in the year 2006, TMOF carried out situational analysis and sent a report to some of her development partners.

Since the underlying cause of the problem was unsafe (contaminated) water, TMOF recommended the use of life straws, bio-sand water filters and the construction of deep-water wells.

As a result, AIDSpirit-Montana made a commitment of providing 1000-2000 life straws each year starting 2007. Since the first batch arrived, the Malaria and Typhoid prevalence rates among school going children has reduced from 40%-6%.

To maintain this strength, AIDSpirit-Montana in partnership with Hope 2 One Life (H2O Life) Foundation have helped us sink three deep water wells, as well as initiated a bio-sand water filter project; both of which are self-sustaining safe water projects which are already serving to improve on community access to safe water.
